Tangopostale will pay special tribute to Carlos Gardel in the actual house where he spent his first two years; he was born in December 1890 at the Hospital De la Grave, Toulouse⁽¹⁾.

Memo VILTE, guitarist and singer, recipient of many prizes for his work, including Cosquin, the Mecca of Latin American folklore, is also a composer. He recently created a disc « Gestos de amor » with the participation of people with disabilities including hearing and vision loss, as well other serious diseases. It will be given to the Pope in Rome in early June 2014, he arrives in Toulouse.
He will perform two songs of the epoch « payador » Carlos Gardel.

In addition to this tribute, Santiago DE LUCA, Argentinian writer, professor and PhD in Hispanic philology and Rogelio ALANIZ, teacher, journalist and Argentinian writer will participate in a verbal joust based on the poetic lyrics of tango. It will enable the spectateurs to appreciate the literary value and the philosophical aspects, closely linked to Buenos Aires, of the words used in tango songs.

This event has received the support of the City of SANTA FE (Argentine), of the CERVANTES Institute anf ofSéjour à Toulouse (manager of Casa Gardel).

Programme:

• 18h00: A toast to friendship will be offered at Casa Carlos Gardel in the presence of Memo Vilte and possibly a surprise guest.
• 18h30: Walk to the Cervantes Institute not far (550 m).
• 19h00: Poetic joust at the Cervantes Institute. View the event on the website of the Institute.

(1) : This is the most widely accepted hypothesis although that there are other stories about his birth that there is no need to comment on here.
