La Boca, an ideal neighborhood for art
The neighborhood of La Boca in Buenos Aires is emblematic of Argentina’s cultural identity. The cafés of its port hosted the first steps of tango… In the middle of the 19th century, this village constructed around a very active harbour became the place where the arriving immigrants settled. This situation led to a real melting pot with a strong cultural identity and a large number of creators, and this artistic dynamism persists nowadays. The exhibition will show this rich past and will also present works by contemporary artists living in La Boca, meeting place and crossroad of cultures.
Artworks generously loaned by the Benito Quinquela Martín Museum of Fine Arts, Buenos Aires.
Please note: on Saturday, July 1st at 4pm, the artist and director of the Quinquela Martín Museum of Buenos Aires Victor Fernández will offer a guided tour of the exhibition. Opening exhibition at 5pm, followed by the concert of the Luna-Tobaldi Duo at 6pm.
