Guided tour and exhibition opening

EXPO 2017 web2victor web2

The neighborhood of La Boca in Buenos Aires is emblematic of Argentina’s cultural identity. The cafés of its port hosted the first steps of tango… In the middle of the 19th century, this village constructed around a very active harbour became the place where the arriving immigrants settled. This situation led to a real melting pot with a strong cultural identity and a large number of creators, and this artistic dynamism persists nowadays. The exhibition will show this rich past and will also present works by contemporary artists living in La Boca, meeting place and crossroad of cultures. (Artworks generously loaned by the Museum of fine arts Benito Quinquela Martín, Buenos Aires.)

Victor Fernández, plastic artist and director of the Quinquela Martín Museum of fine arts of Buenos Aires will offer a guided tour of the exhibition. The opening of the exhibition will take place at the end of the guided tour, at 5pm.

Victor Fernández is a plastic artist graduated in art and cultural management and has been living in La Boca neighborhood for many years now. He exhibited his works in museums and art galleries in Argentina, where he won many prizes, but also in Italy and in France. In 2013, Tangopostale dedicated an exhibition to his work. Victor Fernández has written many articles, and he gives lessons and lectures in Argentina and all around the world (Maison de l'Amérique latine in Paris, Milan, Hamburg...). Since March 2014, he has been managing the Museum of fine arts Benito Quinquela Martín in Buenos Aires. He is also a collector of tango recordings and DJ at the milonga El Tacuarí in Buenos Aires, and will host the Eterna Milonga de Noche on Tuesday, July 4th at 8:30pm.

Please note: the guided tour and the opening will be followed by a concert of the Luna-Tobaldi Duo at 6pm. Please book it on the page of the event.
