Workshop 1 • 10:30 a.m. – 12 p.m.: Milonga
with the presence of percussionist DEMSI for the end of the class
Rhythms of Africa, origins of tango: candombe, tango-milonga, murga. The milonga in all its colors. Milonga lisa and traspié. The central role of percussion in the milonga. Tame and let yourself be tamed by the milonga, penetrate its charm and its mischievous and playful tone.
✓ Target audience: dancers with at least two years of regular tango practice.

Workshop 2 • 12:30 p.m. – 2 p.m.: Ganchos and entradas, tango transmission
Entradas and ganchos in double role… The exploration of how to enter the space of the other and how to invite the other to enter his own space. We will approach these two figures in a technical and playful way at the same time. For this occasion, we will explore improvisation and research in ganchos and entradas: the technique and mechanisms in both figures, for both roles and in the service of music and improvisation in pairs.
✓ The course is aimed at tango teachers and future teachers, as well as advanced/confirmed dancers who wish to explore the theme.

Workshop 3 • 2:15 p.m. – 4 p.m.: Tango-theater
Tango-theater offers theater tools to use in tango dance. Open door to imagination, enriching the game and dialogue in dance as well as work on presence and the ability to improvise.
✓ Target audience: tango dancers with regular practice. Intermediate/advanced level.

Marina Carranza

Marina Carranza

Originally from Buenos Aires, Marina Carranza trained with great names of Argentine tango such as Claudia Bozzo, Los Dinzel, Gustavo Naveira,... Her studies in literature at the University of Buenos Aires and theater, notably with the Odin Teatret in Denmark and the Merci Group in Toulouse, gave her a taste for interpretation and writing.

Choreographer, performer and actress, Marina Carranza dedicates herself as much to teaching as to artistic production.

Upon her arrival in Europe, she worked in Switzerland and Germany before settling in France where she founded the tango-theatre company AQUÍ Macorina. In 2004, she performed in the show Tango Neruda directed by Serge Barbuscia, which will be a great success at the Off festival in Avignon and abroad. After dancing alongside artists such as Nathalie Dessay, Renaud Capuçon and the Juan José Mosalini Orchestra, Marina Carranza creates two solos: Quebrada (also played in Argentina) and For Lisa, current creation as a performer and creator. She created the educational group La Huella Tango and directs the educational cycle on the transmission of tango within the company.
