Festival International de Tango Argentin de Toulouse

Imagine a plane from Toulouse bound for Buenos Aires,filled with
a thousand postcards, letters of love and personal confidences.
On its return flight il brings us all the passion of tango and the culture of the Rio de la Plata.

Tangopostale 20122 will take place from Monday 2nd July to Sunday, 8th July the other side.  For every tanguero and tanguera in Toulouse, the other side is other coast of the Atlantic, locally it is the other bank of the Garonne The other side is either the Argentine or Uruguayan shoreline of the Rio de la Plata. For thousands of years such banks have been the site of individual and collective adventure.
The other side has been a haven for a mass of suffering humanity, or a land coveted by a few individuals seeking empire. But each side has been united through bridges of stone, as in Toulouse or by sea and air across the Atlantic . This is today supplemented by cultural bridges through which we develop ourselves through contact and diversity.
With this in mind FITT (International festival of Tango Toulouse) prepared the fourth edition of Tangopostale, hoping to open horizons, visions and explore : the other point of view, leading to enriching encounters and discoveries. The events offered, and the activites of the local associations in the tango festival will offer the opportunity to expand cultural knowledge, to experience new sensations, create dance steps and new combinations of words, notes, sounds, and tastes.

The 8 highlights of the other side Tangopostale 2012 invites you to travel from Monday 2nd July on with a Peña with a meal (at the Moulin Tropical).
Tangueando and La Maquina Tanguera welcome this year as resident guests the Maestros
Saturday 7th July: at Place du Capitole, 2 cultures will meet: Argentinian folklore and Uruguayan candombe in one show : Spectacle : Folklore des deux rives (Place du Capitole)
And of course, there will be plenty other events not to be missed: street performances, exhibitions, conferences, shows, classes with Toulouse tango associations, cinema, guided tours, dancing nights (afters).
with this year : a cultural partnership with the Uruguayan Embassy in Paris Paris which allows us to offer you an exhibition coming directly from Montevideo (« Tango Revelado ») and to welcome Hermenegildo SABAT ; and the discovery of the nice Espace EDF Bazacle overhanging the Garonne, where you will have a concert, a ball, some exhibitions and conferences, and where you will be able to enjoy some refreshments after the guided tours. |
