Postural pedagogy
2 workshops with Samara Hilal
Workshop

Price : €40 per workshop / €70 for both workshops // For RSA recipients and job seekers: €35 per morning / €55 per day

✦ Workshop 1: 10:30 am – 12:30 pm • Vertical axis and role of the pelvis

This workshop offers an introduction to the essential principles of postural pedagogy, which develops anatomical understanding and autonomy.
The work aims to reorganize the skeleton in space, to reduce hyperactivity of superficial muscles and to stimulate the fine tone of postural muscles (located deeper).
The pelvis, acting as both a motor and a hinge, plays a central role. Its alignment directly influences the organization of support, the engagement of the center of gravity, as well as the availability of the muscle chains and fascia of the upper body.
We will revisit our body schema and our vertical axis according to the principle: maximum relaxation → minimum effort → optimal efficiency. Like a cat that leaps!

Individual support sessions will allow for the exploration of touch as a learning tool. It is through observing, touching, and being touched that these concepts and reference points truly become anchored in the body.

✦ Workshop 2: 1:30 p.m. – 4 p.m. • Biomechanics in the fundamental movements of tango

This second part allows us to deepen and better integrate the "small revolutions" experienced during the first workshop.

By putting into practice the elements discussed in the morning, we will explore how to maintain full attention to our wonderful mechanics, while remaining available for connection and musicality.
We will play with these micro-adjustments in the dance (walking, ochos, giros…) We will refine the coordination between dissociation, weight transfers and spinal spirals in order to make our movements more stable, comfortable and fluid.

The question-and-answer session will allow individual issues to be addressed collectively. These exchanges often reveal common body patterns and provide valuable insights for everyone.

Then it will be time to go and practice in a milonga!

• Required materials: Comfortable trousers, leggings or shorts, your usual tango shoes + socks!

• Required level: These workshops are for people curious to learn more about how their body works, with a minimum of one year of tango experience. Registration is available for individuals or couples. The dance practice will be based on open roles (adaptable to your role in your partner).

• Language of instruction: The workshops will be given in French, but some parts may be translated into English if necessary.

Samara also runs stages of "co-creativity and co-guidance" in the "Neo Stages" section, be sure to check it out!

Samara Hilal

Samara Hilal

I passionately share what drives me, taking on the challenge of providing truly "tailor-made" support.

I have been teaching world dances for twenty-five years, with a strong focus on body alignment and pelvic mobility. Trained by Federico Moreno and Catherine Berbessou, among others, I have been teaching tango since 2018.
My coaching method, postural pedagogy, is based on over twenty years of postural and biomechanical work with dancers. It encourages revisiting and developing existing skills, evolving one's postural pattern on a daily basis… and opening up new possibilities.

My professional background as a dancer, actress, and musician, along with my social activism, has led me to develop a tango that is both precise and free. I place connection and communication at the heart of it, transcending roles and genders: a living continuum between "leading" and "being led." I created the concept of co-leading to foster this dynamic in France.
