Born in 1972 in Buenos Aires, Juanjo Mosalini is the son of Juan Mosalini, great figure of argentine tango. Before he started bandoneon with his father at the age of 16, he had grown up surrounded by Argentine musicians and had as music teachers Beytelmann and Gustavo Enzo Giecco.
First Prize bandoneon at the Gennevilliers Conservatory in 1993, he started to teach as assistant of Juan Jose, then as professor.
It is especially by its commitment as a performer that Juanjo Mosalini stands out.
As bandoneon in the Grand Tango Orchestra Mosalini and then in the Gomina Trio led by guitarist Leonardo Sanchez, this is the first period of his 20 year career and it is rather “wise”.
Subsequently, he managed to find his own place playing with several orchestras such as the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra, Israel Symphony Orchestra, Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra, Orchestre de Bretagne, Orchestre de Picardie, Santa Barbara Orchestra ...
In 2012 the duo Mosalini - Fioramonti released their CD called “Tra(d) icional” which tittle plays between tradition and betrayal and summarize the other part of Juanjo Mosalini’s course. Whether in chamber music with guitarist Vincent Bögeholz, or in improvisational electronic music with jazz bassist Olivier Sens, or as soloist entwines with the delightful voice of Silvana Lugi, or within the quartet Luis Bacalov, even throughout Gerardo Jerez Le Cam, or alongside guitarist Tomas Gubitsch, Juanjo Mosalini seems to let himself be guided by his feelings.
Juanjo Mosalini was also part of the first orchestra that plays in the first Tangopostale Festival in 2009 with the Hora Cero Quintet and guitarist Laurent Toulouse Vivet. This gives a more personal dimension to his return to St Pierre des Cuisines in 2014.
