«Disitango, un abrazo feminista»
by Valérie Loewensberg (2025)
Movies

Price : 8€ or subscription booklet / 4.5€ for under 14s

Tango has always been associated with machismo. But in recent years, feminist and LGBTQIA+ movements have opened new avenues for this dance: the development of dual roles, the use of gender-neutral terms "leader" and "follower" (rather than "guide" and "followed"),…
Will the tango of the 21st century mark a revolution?

The documentary "Disitango, a feminist embrace" offers a space for the LGBTQIA+ community and women to speak, opening the door to a more egalitarian and inclusive tango.

Projection en version originale espagnole, sous-titrée en français. La séance sera suivie d’un débat animé par Céline Bourgeois.

Valérie Loewensberg began her career with a medium-length documentary entitled "Tunisia, the Era of a Cultural Revolution." A graduate of the National University of the Arts in Buenos Aires, she has worked as a script supervisor since 2018. As a filmmaker, she is distinguished by the introspective nature of her characters and her expressive and poetic exploration of the body. Her short films "El Diario de Cecilia" (2024), "Cabe Deseo" (2020), and "Camille" (2018) have won awards at festivals. "Disitango, un abrazo feminista" is her first feature-length documentary.

Céline Bourgeois, danseuse queer de tango

Céline Bourgeois, queer tango dancer

Céline discovered tango in 2010 and studied it with Carolina Udoviko, Federico Rodriguez Moreno and Catherine Berbessou among others, but above all alone on the dance floor with the dancers.
She practices a queer and feminist tango, free from heteronormative roles and codes, and advocates for a more egalitarian, inclusive, gentle and subtle tango where the dance floor is a political and sensitive space at the same time.

She teaches in Saint-Girons (Ariège) with Céline Giordano and also in Toulouse for a monthly queer workshop.
