A grand return to a historic tango venue to kick off this new edition!
To open this 17th Tangopostale, we will have the pleasure of taking over Place Arnaud Bernard, right in the heart of Toulouse. Located in the neighborhood where Carlos Gardel was born, it once housed the historic Tangueando association, and was also a meeting point for our festival in its early years.
It is therefore with great pleasure that we will set up a 200m2 dance floor under a marquee for the first three evenings of the festival, in partnership with Tangueando Toulouse and with the support of the local council and the Arnaud-Bernard Festival Committee.
A popular and lively place to live, surrounded by many restaurants, bars and shops, we promise you joyful and relaxed evenings to get warmed up for the 10 days of the festival!
ON THE PROGRAM FOR THIS OPENING NIGHT:
Trio Trosman-Maguna-Dorf
Two Argentinians and a Uruguayan, all three of whom fell in love with the south of France...
Having already been invited to Tangopostale in 2014, guitarist Diego Trosman and bandoneon player Fernando Maguna have been performing together at tango dances and concerts, for all ages, throughout France continuously since 1998. They offer a repertoire of traditional tango for dancers, which they subtly and creatively reinterpret. Each also shares a passion for passing on their art to a growing number of students in stages classes, workshops, and even school orchestras.
Diego Trosman is known for a clear and fluid guitar style that continues the style developed by Roberto Grela and Ciro Perez. A highly sought-after accompanist, he can count among his collaborations artists as diverse as Melingo, Juan Cedron and Haydee Alba – not to mention his participation in the guitar ensemble led by Vidal Rojas for the show evoking "Carlos Gardel, L'Ange de Toulouse" by Jorge Saraniche, presented at the Saint-Pierre-des-Cuisines auditorium by Tangopostale in 2010.
Fernando Maguna is one of those exceptional musicians equally at ease on two instruments – whether it's the single keyboard of a piano or the two keyboards of the bandoneon. A great assimilationist of all styles, he is truly at home on stage where he can fully express his ability to find new illuminations for classic tangos, as well as his taste for nuances that would delight the great bandoneon masters such as Anibal Troilo and Osvaldo Montes.
To complete the trio, there is the essential voice of Dany Dorf, singer, guitarist, and master of ceremonies. Born in Montevideo before growing up in Buenos Aires, Dany has been based in the Toulouse region for over 20 years. His supple and expressive voice, as well as his genuine interest in others, have allowed him to establish himself not only as a solo artist, but also as a singer of Ganzua and then Cuerda y Voz. Invited back by Tangopostale for the third time, he virtuously blends tango, folk, and ballad repertoires.
DJ R@ffo (Italy / France)
Raffaele Pannozzo started in Rome in 2017 as a neo-tango DJ and VJ.
He quickly turned to traditional tango, then developed a personal and innovative style, blending traditional and alternative tango.
Since settling in France in 2020, R@ffo has captivated audiences at numerous milongas and international tango festivals, whether dedicated to traditional tango, neo-tango, or a blend of the two styles.
For the past few months, he has been telling his audience that all his music is tuned to the 432 Hz frequency, thus offering a more harmonic, deep and sensitive experience.
He is also the creator of an original milonga, oscillating between tradition and modernity, offering a unique and sensual atmosphere, notably through his famous “Milonga R@dio Tango”.
